ProjectS Rooted in Stewardship

We are not just about generating clean energy
—it’s about creating a better future.

DESRI is a leading developer, owner, and operator of renewable energy projects across the United States.

We partner closely with local communities and landowners to develop solar projects that reflect local priorities and address site-specific concerns. Our collaborative approach ensures that each project is shaped with community input and long-term stewardship in mind.

In partnership with industry and academic experts, DESRI employs construction and land management practices designed to reduce environmental impacts while promoting soil health and ecosystem resilience.

Our design and procurement strategies prioritize the use of advanced solar panel and racking technologies to maximize energy production and minimize the overall project footprint.

DESRI is an established provider in Sacramento County, with several projects providing clean energy to SMUD customers, as described below.

Sloughhouse Solar Project:
Renewable Energy & Sustainable Grazing

The Sloughhouse Solar project, located on a 400-acre site at Wanlass Ranch, combines renewable energy production with ongoing agricultural activities. This new 50-megawatt solar project will generate 130,000,000 kilowatt-hours annually, enough to power approximately 12,000 homes, while maintaining sheep grazing and supporting local wildlife.

Clean Power for Sacramento

Generates 100% renewable energy, cutting approximately 90,000 tons of CO₂/year (like removing 19,000 cars from the road).

Agricultural & Environmental Stewardship

Preserves grazing land, improves soil health, and protects wildlife habitats.

Local Economic Growth

Creates 150+ construction jobs, boosts tax revenue, and strengthens SMUD’s grid at no cost to ratepayers.

Rancho Seco Solar II:
160MW Renewable Energy Project

DESRI owns the 160 MW Rancho Seco Solar II project in Sacramento County, California—built on the site of a decommissioned nuclear plant. With a 30-year power agreement with SMUD, this project repurposes underutilized land for clean energy.

Sustainable Land Reuse

Transforms a decommissioned nuclear site into a large-scale solar facility, setting a model for eco-friendly repurposing and land stewardship.

Long-Term Clean Energy

Delivers reliable, emissions-free power to Sacramento through a 30-year SMUD contract, supporting regional decarbonization goals.

Proven Developer Partnership

Owned and operated by DESRI, a leading renewable energy company with a strong track record in solar and storage projects across the U.S.

Rancho Seco Solar I:
Clean Energy on Repurposed Land

Rancho Seco Solar I is a 10 MW photovoltaic project located on approximately 65 acres of land leased from the former Rancho Seco Nuclear Generating Facility. Developed on agricultural-zoned property, the project includes solar infrastructure, a substation, interconnection equipment, and supports SMUD’s renewable energy goals.

Smart Land Use

Leverages existing energy infrastructure at the former nuclear facility to optimize renewable energy production.

Clean Power Generation

Delivers 10 MW of emissions-free electricity to support regional energy needs.

Efficient Infrastructure

Includes substation and transmission upgrades to integrate solar power into the grid.
